About Autism and ADHD
Autism
Autism can be difficult to diagnose, as every autistic person has different needs and displays different characteristics. These may include:
-

-
speech and language
-
behaviour
The National Autistic Society's website is a great resource for further information - click here to explore the site.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
ADHD can also present in many different ways, which may include:
-
hyperactivity and impulsiveness
-
inattentiveness (difficulty concentrating and focusing)

Exploring a diagnosis
If you think your child may have a neurodiverse condition such as autism or ADHD, you can speak to your school or setting's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), your health visitor (if your child is under 5 years old) or Children & Young People's Service (CYPS).
These services will be able to provide guidance around assessment, diagnosis, intervention and referral.
