About Family Hubs
Family Hubs provide support to parents and carers across Northumberland. Family Hubs are spaces to meet, learn, take part in activities and access help and information.

Previously known as Children's Centres, Northumberland County Council's Family Hubs carry out a range of work in the local community, which ranges from birth registration, midwifery services and infant feeding support, to primary mental health, community events, relationship support and more.

There are a number of Family Hubs across Northumberland, as well as several play vans, packed with specialist equipment and materials to enable staff to support isolated communities.
Family Hubs' aim is to ensure that all children get the best possible start in life.
Family Hubs are also community resources/delivery points for a broad range of services to support children, young people and families, such as Midwifery, Health Visiting, Early Help Family Workers, Parent Forums, Birth Registrar and Community Groups.

Family Hubs' staff can assist and signpost you to Additional Needs and Disabilities (AND) services and resources that can support you and your family in your local area.
Family Hubs promote the physical, intellectual, and social development of babies and young children so they can thrive at home and at school. This is achieved by offering support and development activities to families, and coordinating a range of services for children under five.
Family Hubs provide:
-
Learning Together Through Play (Additional Needs and/or Disabilities) sessions for children with additional needs, and their parents and carers
-
Opportunities for families to develop new skills
-
Outreach and home visiting, and services for children and parents who need it through the ‘early help’ process
-
Early learning opportunities for pre-school children
